In Galatians 6:7-8, God promises us that we will reap what we sow.
Over 10 years ago my husband and I choose Lou Reed's "Perfect Day" as our wedding song. The song goes "It's such a perfect day, I'm glad I spent it with you. You just keep me hanging on. You're going to reap just what you sow." Little did I know the significance that song would have 10 years later. Here's the story...
In October of 2008, after years of weird symptoms, God gave me a definitive diagnoses of Lupus. Although I mourned my very athletic outdoor life, I trusted that He would work all things for the good of those who love him (Romans 8:28). I knew I definitely fell in that category so I had nothing to worry about although I was having a hard time playing out in my mind how anything good would come of this horrible situation. After all, I was a young active mom taking care of two precious active toddlers, had a booming career, and active life.
At that time, I was experiencing debilitating arthritis as well as a slew of other crazy symptoms and it's worth mentioning...had never sewn before in my life. That is when a lady from my church gave me a sewing machine & 5 minute lesson and asked if I could help with the Heart Pillow Ministry serving heart transplant patients.
It's just so cool how God puts you exactly WHERE he wants you WHEN he wants you and with WHOM he chooses!
I not only made a new friend and learned how to sew that day, I also found my new purpose...to sew for HIM, meet women like you, love HIS children and create HIS masterpieces (ok, maybe their just "masterpieces" to me) in HIS time and with HIS purpose.
So...sew...sow...I NOW sew special items for the special people in your life, with the eager anticipation of someday, reaping what I have sown (my big jeweled crown dancing in the streets of gold with you)! My items are unique & not mass produced. I do not ever intend to make money from this business. It is just a side hobby. My goals are selfish...to fulfill my inner needs of feeling productive and worthwhile (without REAL work or exercise) and to meet cool people that God wants me to meet (YOU). My creativity and energy are fed by The Spirit. If I'm empty, I'm sorry but your order must wait. The "funk" usually doesn't last long and with prayer (yours and mine) I'm usually up to my creative sewing-crazed self within a few days.
I am a one-person shop and I have 2 beautiful blessings that God has chosen for me to look after. They are Jenna (7) and Asher (5). I also have a loving & supportive husband named Scott. They come first. Lupus has also taught me to NOT rush through life anymore, so please be patient and your order will be perfect usually in less than a week. I accept cash, check, credit cards, bartering, and house cleaning.
